A perfectly rewarding day with the local community at The Dene, Medomsley!
Sunday 18th May saw what seemed like most of the community of The Dene, Medomsley engage in a host of woodland activities provided and funded by Microsite and other local socially valuable businesses!
It fills us with an immense reminder of ‘this is why we do what we do’ when we can see, first hand, the value that our approach towards contracting can bring to local communities!
Microsite is the contractor responsible for preparing, planting and maintaining the new woodland at the Dene. We believe that woodlands, especially those near houses can provide many human benefits as well as improve the ecological environment!
Our unique approach to contracting sees us connect with the local communities where we work. We hosted activities aimed at all ages and abilities including, Bushcraft, Whitling, Survival Skills, Tomahawk Axe Throwing, Bug Hotels, Tree Planting, Woodland Skills, Ecology Talks, Nature Walks and more. The event concluded with the symbolic opening and naming ceremony (and picnic) of the woodland, named ‘ Younger’ Wood. A reflection of the love and experience of trees and woods from the longest-living resident in the Dene… Mr Phil Younger!
Phil was present on the day and has planted most of the trees himself in the new ‘Younger Woodland’ whilst working with Microsite.
